ABOUT THE START-UP MARATHON

Support young entrepreneurs to start and scale innovative digital and tech start-ups that offer solutions to the community's challenges and contribute to the advancement of Sustainable Development Goals

Throughout its journey, the marathon will look at building a digital eco-system and boosting the digital entrepreneurial mindsets through:

Building youth entrepreneurial capacities
Grasping essential entrepreneurial concepts from industry-leading trainers and mentors
Giving them an opportunity to pitch their digital ideas to specialized judges and investors
Competing to win an incubation package, specialized mentoring and coaching, and seed funding to start-up a digital-led businesses

PREPARE and APPLY

Any entrepreneurial team with an idea for a digital or tech start-up (track1: Idea Stage) or with a minimum viable product (MVP) for a digital or tech start-up (track2: Seed Stage) is welcome to PREPARE all needed information and proofs and then APPLY to the Start-up Marathon based on the selected track.

LEARN and PRACTICE

All selected teams LEARN through the Startup Marathon bootcamp the essential digital entrepreneurship skills, end-to-end innovation approaches, requirements engineering, business modelling processes, and prototype and minimum viable product development for track 1. For track 2, teams learn product-market fit, customer segmentations, minimum viable product (MVP), its validation with real users, and business models. All teams are required to PRACTICE these concepts under the supervision of leading industry trainers, mentors, and experts tailored to each track separately.

WORK and DELIVER

The selected teams are required to WORK on their low-fidelity prototype and relevant validation reports for track 1, and an upgraded minimum viable product (MVP) with UI/UX design and corresponding reports for track 2 and DELIVER them in two weeks right after the bootcamp in front of a judging panel to be evaluated and qualified.

 

EVOLVE and ELEVATE

Qualified teams in both tracks receive advanced training bootcamp tailored to the specific needs of their target beneficiaries to EVOLVE their projects and ELEVATE their skills. This includes presentation and pitching, advanced entrepreneurship skills, software development approaches, software testing and validation, project management and company registration and legislation for track 1. For track2, teams will learn presentation and pitching skills, start-up valuation and equity, funding sources and partnerships, product development optimization, start-up’s key performance indicators (KPIs), intellectual property and legal regulations compliance, brand identity and marketing strategy, cash flow and financial projections.

PROCEED and ADJUST

The qualified teams are requested to PROCEED to work on their projects and ADJUST their details based on the training and expert feedback they receive to prepare all necessary deliverables for each track within six weeks of the second bootcamp. Additionally, they will have the opportunity for one-to-one coaching sessions with relevant experts and senior mentors.

PROMOTE and PITCH

Upon submission, the qualified teams PROMOTE and PITCH their second-round deliverables in the final event. This will be their opportunity to receive the full marathon start-up support package based on their selected track.
